KUDOS!

To our Executive Director, Carol Jean Reynolds.  She has been appointed, by President Barak Obama, to serve on the National Council on Disability.

When President Obama announced his intention to nominate Ms. Reynolds and her fellow board members, he named the positions as, "key administrative post"(s).

The President went on to say, "I am grateful that
these fine individuals have chosen to serve in my administration.  They will bring a depth of experience and valued perspective to their roles, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead."

Congratulations Carol, on your nomination, and for the well earned presidential recognition of the Disability Support Community!

Ms. Reynolds will take her place as a member of the Council after gaining Senate confirmation of President Obamas' appointments.

Candlelight vigil for Denver's
homeless dead held on 12/16/2009.  155 homeless people lost their lives in Denver in 2009, (people with disabilities are far more likely to experience.  Their names were read alound during an homage held on the capitol steps.

155 homeless people died in the seven county metro area of Denver, and surrounding, in the last year.

18% of all Coloradans report having been in poverty in the last 12 months, (according to the U.S. Census Bureau, latest reporting stats yr 2007)
